Sasha D. Veal, 29, of Hartford, turned herself into police on June 1, at approximately 10 a.m., after learning about an active warrant for her arrest. The warrant stems from an altered check that Veal tried to cash on April 6, 2016.
The warrant alleges that Veal claimed the altered check was a paycheck from a business which she does not work for. The bank teller became suspicious of the check and did not complete the transaction. The transaction was attempted in Waterbury, but the account holder is a Southington resident.
The check was written out for $1,363.92.
Veal was charged with second degree forgery and fourth degree criminal attempt of larceny. She was released on a $1,500 bond and given a court date of June 14, 2016 in Bristol.
