He was born in Southington on June 24, 1957, the son of Lucy and Sidney LaForge.
Gary attended Southington High School. Gary was widely known and respected as an ace mechanic specializing in transmission building, and owned his own business called AA Transmission in East Haven for many years. He loved his children and family gatherings, and camping and fishing.
He also loved working on his antique 1961 Chevy Biscayne, which he rebuilt to showroom condition, and he loved riding his Harley with his friends, and listening to his favorite band, Lynyrd Skynrd.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his two children, Kimberly Wong and Douglas LaForge, two brothers, David LaForge and Dennis LaForge, and two sisters, Laurie Boudreau and Linda LaForge, and his beloved dog, Joe as well as many nieces and nephews, and two great nephews.
Gary was a free spirited, good-hearted guy who loved laughing and partying with friends and family and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at 7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
