A permanent power source for the annual Apple Harvest Festival is being installed on the Town Green.
The installment was announced by the Apple Harvest Festival Supervisory Committee (AHFSC) at a meeting on May 19, and is expected to take place in June. The permanent electrical pedestal will replace the need to purchase temporary power for the festival each year.
AHFSC Co-Chair Tom Lombardi said the committee decided to purchase the permanent structure because they have been relying on Eversource for temporary service every year. Lombardi said the festival originally required five temporary services, and this structure will eliminate the need for any.
In previous years, the town purchased temporary power lines from Eversource for approximately $800 each. The cost of the permanent pedestal is approximately $1,600.
Lombardi said that by installing the new electrical source, the town will see savings after just two years.
He added that the new power source, located on the green’s south end, will “be an overall improvement to the Town Green for other events throughout the year.”
