To the editor:

About five weeks ago, I wrote a letter to the editor about West Street and how a lot of residents are against more building and traffic. We tell the town officials how we feel, and we get the same old answer.

“We will look into it, and thanks for your concerns.”

Here’s a shocker: the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) approved a mixed-use transitional zone, which amounts to more building and a lot more traffic in the near future.

As in most cases, no one really cares or listens to the tax payers living on or near West Street, or other areas of town.

I thought the Town Council chair was the only one who thinks he’s always right about what’s best for tax payers. The PZC chair and vice chair run a close second and third. They both seem to also know what’s best for the area where people live, like West Street. Wow, thanks for the mess.

One last thing: taxes keep going up, and that’s a blow for all people un-employed, fixed incomes, no raises, and the elderly. \

Good luck Southington tax payers…and West Street.
