At the start of the conference schedule, Southington coach Tony Mauro said that his Blue Knights tennis team finally started showing the effort he expected. After going 3-1 last week, he said that his team showed their best efforts of the spring.
“I thought that we began to realize that I prefer ‘E’ over ‘W,’” the coach said. “So I figure if you put the effort in and come walking by me, whether you won or lost, it’s better than a ‘W’ with no effort. I’m quite pleased with their effort.”
After falling to the Trojans, 6-1, the week before, the Knights avenged the five-point loss with a 4-3 triumph at Simsbury on Monday, May 16.
