Commuters should expect delays on Meriden Waterbury Road (Route 322) on Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24 as paving work begins between Ruggles Row and Clark Street. Road work is expected to begin at 7 p.m. on Monday and last through 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Meriden Waterbury Road will be open during this period, but it will be reduced at times to one lane alternating traffic. All local businesses will be open and accessible during the construction. Southington police officers will be stationed in the area to help expedite traffic through the construction zone.
Motorists are asked to avoid this area if at all possible to allow the crew time to work safely and efficiently.
For easier access through the construction zone the following alternate routes are suggested:
East Bound: Take a left onto Ruggles Row, a right onto Burritt Street, a right onto Clark Street, and return to Meriden Waterbury Road.
West Bound: Take a right onto Clark Street, a left onto Burritt Street, a left onto Ruggles Row, and return to Meriden Waterbury Road.
