REDMAN CONVENTION. 4 p.m. opening ceremony on Friday at the Crowne Plaza in Southbury, followed by the memorial service, the Past Great Sachems Association meeting, and the hospitality room. Session re-convenes on Saturday at 9 a.m. with lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. and happy hour at 5 p.m., followed by the banquet and entertainment at 6:30 p.m. Members contact Chairman David L. PLANT AND CRAFT SALE. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St. Proceeds benefit Orchard Valley Garden Club. A large variety of plants will be available grown by members as well as raffles, baked goods and crafts. For more info, contact  thanlon@snet.net.

TOUCH A TRUCK. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southington Drive-In, 995 Meriden-Waterbury Tpk. The Southington Conservation Commission will be handing out free seedlings while supplies last. Tickets are $3 for kids ($1 adults). Sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary, Kiltonic Unit 72 and Southington Parks and Recreation. Rain date is May 15.

FRIENDS OF THE SOUTHINGTON LIBRARY BOOKSTORE OPEN HOUSE. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the library, 255 Main St. Celebrate the store’s 20th anniversary with a free drawing for book-themed gift baskets and demonstrations on how to make things out of old books. Scrapbooks depicting the store’s history and half-price books. Light refreshments will be served.



UNICO GOLD MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY. 6 p.m. at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville. This year’s honoree is Sister Marie Rose Roccapriore, M.P.F. 123RD SOUTHINGTON REDMEN ANNIVERSARY. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Nucchi’s Restaurant in Forestville. Cost is $25 per person for members ($40 per person for guests). RSVP by April 1. WHEN I’M IN CHARGE. 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Southington Youth Services office, 196 North Main St. The course is intended for youth who are in grades 4-6 and is focused on how to keep safe when they are left at home on their own.  It is taught by Red Cross certified instructor, Terri Benoit.
