Town Manager seeks executive secretary

The Town of Southington is currently seeking an executive secretary for Town Manager Garry Brumback. According to the job posting, the ideal candidate will be able to perform “a variety of highly skilled secretarial and administrative support to the town manager.”

The position is open to the public until Friday, May 6.

The executive secretary will work without direct supervision and will make decisions that involve knowledge of how the town and town departments operate. Responsibilities will include scheduling meetings and appointments, monitoring telephones, taking dictation of the town manager during meetings, and maintaining Brumback’s web page.

The executive secretary will also handle facility management for the Town Hall, preparation and maintenance of the town manager’s budget, and processing of worker’s compensation forms.

A high school diploma is the minimum requirement, along with six years of professional work experience. Applicants should be able to multi-task and work independently, be able to develop and maintain filing systems, and should be skilled in handling confidential information.

To qualify, candidates must be able to pass tests in both dictation and Microsoft Office, and will be required to undergo drug testing as well as criminal and credit background screenings.

This position is 35 hours per week, located at the town manager’s office at 75 Main St.
