Police were called to South End Elementary School at 8:34 a.m. today after receiving calls about an altercation among staff members. Officers arrested Melinda Chantea Fisher, 29, of Wallingford, a district wide technology assistant at the school.
The investigation revealed that Fisher was involved in an argument with her supervisor when addressed for being late to work. Fisher allegedly punched her supervisor in the face, attempted to punch her supervisor a second time, before throwing a cup of coffee at her victim.
The supervisor turned to run but fell to the ground, and Fisher was observed trying to bang the victim’s head against a wall. She was also observed kicking her victim until a parent, who was dropping off a student, and staff members intervened to separate them.
The supervisor/victim reported head, face and back pain and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.
As a result of this incident, the school was placed in Secure School Mode for a short time.
Fisher was arrested and charged with third degree assault and second degree breach of peace. She was processed and released on a $1,500 bond and was given a court date of May 2 in Bristol Court.
