Art league seeking submissions for spring show

The Art League of New Britain, 30 Cedar St., New Britain wants artists to submit work for the 12th Annual Spring Juried Exhibition. Jurors are Rachel Carlson and Claudia Van Nes of Maple and Main Gallery in Chester, Conn.

First prize is $300 plus a one person exhibit at a mutually agreed upon date.

Second prize is $150. Third Prize is $125. Fourth prize is a $100 gift certificate from Aardvark Art Studio.

The show will run Friday, May 13 to Sunday, June 5. An opening reception, free and open to the public, will be held Friday, May 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gallery Hours are Saturday and Sunday 1-4 or by appointment.

Eligible artwork is any original piece in  any medium, two dimensional and three dimensional.

Two dimensional artwork must be wired (no hooks) for hanging. Gallery wrapped canvases with painted sides are acceptable provided they are wired in the back. No size restrictions- must fit in the door. Any work not suitable for hanging will not be accepted.

Three dimensional sculptures must have a maximum of three foot by three footprint and must weigh under 100 pounds.

Consider entering work not previously exhibited at the Art League.

Entry fees is: members, $10 for first entry, $5 for each entry after. Non-members fees are $20 for the first entry and $10 for each entry after.

Also, a $10 sitter fee will be charged, waived if you sit a gallery time slot.
