The Parish of the Future Educational Programming Committee at the Church of St. Dominic will be holding an informational session for people interested in becoming a literacy volunteer. The event will be led by representatives of the Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut, (LVCC), whose mission is to help adults and families improve their lives through literacy.

The informational session will be held on Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m., in the St. Dominic Community Learning Center. LVCC provides instruction, assistance and encouragement to adult members of our community who wish to improve their skills in reading, writing, or speaking English.

LVCC recruits and trains volunteers who will tutor and serve as mentors for motivated low-literate adults who are eager to change their lives. Information regarding programs and volunteer training provided will be discussed.  Aspiring literacy volunteers will be offered an opportunity to sign up for training that will be provided at St. Dominic in June 2016.
