Southington Community Theatre (SCT) will hold auditions for its June production of the musical “1776” on Sunday, March 20, by appointment, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the SCT theatre hall at 1237 Marion Ave. (the old Marion Firehouse).

The musical takes place in the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence…if only our founding fathers can agree to do it. The play follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.

Those who audition should come prepared to sing 16 bars from a song of their choice (please bring piano music if song is not from 1776). Parts are available for two women between 20 and 40 years old and men, ages 17-80.

To set up an appointment, email Heidi at basslamberto@gmail.com.

The production will be directed by Heidi Bass Lamberto. Music Director will be Alan Dougherty. The producer will be Peter E. Pristic. For more information, visit www.southingtoncommunitytheatre.org or www.facebook.com/SouthingtonCommunityTheatre.
