Academy of Dance and Music (ADAM), with facilities in Wallingford and Southington, received the coveted Studio of Excellence Award from Groove Dance Competition at one of their regional competitions in East Haven, on Feb. 19 to Feb. 21.

In addition to the Studio of Excellence Award, ADAM received numerous other awards, including gold, high gold, platinum awards, as well as top scoring overall awards and specific judges awards.

ADAM Owner and Director Courtney Billings commented in a press release. “Among other things, we were recognized for our excellence in choreography, great sportsmanship, teamwork, talent, kindness (on and off the stage) and overall positivity,” he said in the release. “There is no greater honor than to be recognized for what my staff and I strive for daily.”

Founded in 1957 as the Judyth Parks Academy of Dance Arts, the school has taught three generations. The Southington Academy of Dance and Music was added as the second location, and both academies offer comprehensive dance programs for all ages, from Diaper Darlings to adults, as well as voice and piano lessons.

“We work to create a wonderful school where my parents and students exemplify teamwork, lead by example and continually support our mission,” Billings said in the press release. “I am most proud that my students and teachers were recognized for the character and caring. Gold, high hold, platinum, top overall placements, and special awards all added to this wonderful weekend.”
