To the editor:
When I was in my early teens back in the seventies, I used to deliver the Southington Observer (actually, the Step Saver) to homes on West Center Street Extension and Verderame Court. I fondly recall slinging the canvas delivery bag over my shoulder as I got on my bike to do my first job.
The Observer gave me the pride and satisfaction of earning my first paycheck. Thank you.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Editions Editor Mike Chaiken and the Observer for their ongoing support of the arts and cultural events. It was an honor have my artwork featured in the “Good Times” section on Feb. 26. I invite the readers to venture out to the New Britain Museum of American Art to see the New / Now exhibition as mentioned in the article.
The NBMAA is a real gem and has recently expanded again. It’s practically in our backyard and is only 10 minutes away from Queen Street. If you have never been there before, now is a good time to visit. If you have already been there, you know it’s a great place.
Thank you Observer. Enjoy life and best regards,
Clinton Deckert, Southington
