William “Bill” Boyd Height Sr., of Millbridge, Maine, formerly of Southington, died at home on Saturday, Dec. 26. He was the husband of John Height of Milbridge for 61 years.
He was born in Southington on March 25, 1928. He served in the US Navy and was an active volunteer firefighter in Southington for 28 years. He moved to his summer home in Millbridge in 1984.
Bill was a family man who lived with integrity, walked with the Lord each day and taught his family to do the same. If you could dream it, Bill has done it: he could do everything from running a business, to mowing acres and acres of fields and greeting parishioners at church with a smile each Sunday. He was a loving husband, hardworking father, and caring grandfather who stood as an impeccable role model to all who knew him. He was a lover of ice cream, Sunday dinners with his family, and an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.
Besides his wife Joan, he is survived by his five children, Bonnie Peterson of Plantsville, Kim Francis of Steuben, and Susan Risbridger, Tina Sargent and Billy Height of Milbridge; as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Michael’s Church in Cherryfield, Maine.
