Through Monday, Dec. 21, library patrons may offset overdue fines with non-perishable food items during the annual “Food for Fines” program. All donations help Southington Community Services restock their shelves during the holiday season.
In addition, donations can be given to the Mitten Tree.
Patrons are asked to bring their overdue item along with a non-perishable item and their library card to the library Lending Desk. Please check the expiration date on your non-perishable, unopened food item before donating.
Billed, lost or damaged materials are not included in this program. These are some of the most needed items: cereal, tuna fish, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned fruit or vegetables, juice boxes, soups, toiletries, paper goods, and snacks.
