CALENDAR HOUSE FESTIVE HOLIDAY PARTY. 12 p.m. at The Aqua Turf, 556 Mulberry St., Plantsville. The annual holiday party begins at noon at Kay’s Pier South. Tickets cost $31 per person, but the final day to purchase tickets is Friday Dec. 11. Indicate table and group requests at time of purchase. Menu: Tossed Salad; Penne Pasta; Baked Scrod; Roast Beef; Maple Glazed Carrots; Garlic Whipped Potatoes; Cherries Jubilee. Entertainment provided by “Simply Swing”, a five-piece swing orchestra and a cash bar.

FREE BALANCE SCREENINGS. Hartford HealthCare Senior Services offers free balance screenings provided by licensed physical therapists at Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Ave. Such screenings can play an important role in preventing falls. Appointments are required. Call (860) 378-1234.

DONATIONS OF USED PERSONAL MUSIC DEVICES. Southington Care Center accepts donations of used iPods or MP3 players to engage residents in a music and memory program.
