‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign cites over 50 seat belt violations

Click It or Ticket

The Southington Police Department handed out nearly 100 tickets during the annual “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement campaign in Southington.

Police announced that 57 motorists were cited during the campaign for failure to wear seat belts. In addition, police ticketed 22 motorists for cell phone violations, 12 for speeding, and five for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

“The annual ‘Click it or Ticket’ mobilization may be over, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt,” a police official said in a department release. “Law enforcement officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt at any time, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation.”
