To the editor:

This year’s Lauryn E. Ossola SHS Swim and Dive Team Scholarship 5K/5-mile Walk/Run fundraiser during the Apple Harvest Festival Road Races was another huge success.

We extend our gratitude and appreciation to all the runners and walkers who made Team Lauryn a noticeable presence throughout the course (thanks to Doug Spain of ProImage for the colorful T-shirts).

Thank you to family, friends, and community members for joining us on a beautiful Sunday morning. We also thank the folks who didn’t run or walk but made a donation to the scholarship fund.  Your participation and generosity makes it possible for us to present a scholarship award (our fourth award) to a deserving graduating swim and dive team member next May.

A special thank you to John Myers and the staff of the YMCA for allowing us to be deeply integrated in the overall Apple Harvest Road Race again this year. That made it very easy for folks to register as a Team Lauryn Member.

A huge thank you also goes out to the coaches, swimmers, and parents of the Southington High School swim team and the YMCA Stingrays. Your participation again this year always adds a special and wonderful feeling to the event.

We thank each and every one of you for helping us to fulfill our promise to carry on Lauryn’s legacy and to continue our commitment to spread kindness and happiness just as she did while she was with us. We are eternally grateful for your incredible generosity.

Great Job, everyone. We hope to see you all out there again next year.

Lisa, Jerry, and Ellen Ossola
