Field hockey is eliminated from tourney

The Lady Knights field hockey team suffered two losses over the week, eliminated from postseason contention.

Southington suffered a 4-0 loss at home to Farmington (9-2-0) on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

All of Farmington’s goals came in the second half. The Knights took six shots on goal and nine penalty corners. Amanda Delorme saved 18 of Farmington’s 22 shots on goal.

A few days later on Friday, Southington fell to East Catholic (2-8-0) at home, 2-0.

East Catholic scored their first goal midway through the first period and their second with 1:57 remaining in the game. The Knights took nine shots on goal and 19 penalty corners. Delorme saved 13 of East Catholic’s 15 shots on goal.

With both losses, Southington moved to 3-10-0 on the season and are eliminated from postseason play.

The Knights will try to go out on a high note this week as they host Northwest Catholic (6-6-0) in their last home game of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and then venture out on the road to meet up with E.O. Smith (1-11-1) in Storrs for their regular season finale on Thursday, Oct. 29.
