To the editor:
I must take a moment to thank a young man named Dillon for being a good samaritan and helping a senior citizen who fell and could not get up.
It was close to 10 p.m., early last week, when I heard a very loud, persistent knock on my apartment door, unusual for that time of the night. Something told me to answer the knock so did so with caution.
There was a young man who was riding his bike through the apartment building parking lot and saw a woman sitting on the sidewalk in front of the building. She gave him her keys and asked him to get help.
I asked the young man for his name to which he answered “Dillon.” The voice sounded like a teenager but not sure. I am totally blind, so I had to judge by the voice.
I called 911 for help and went outside to find my neighbor, Anna, sitting on the sidewalk. The EMTs came and helped her up and into her apartment.
Fortunately, she was not hurt and, fortunately, the night was warm, but Anna could have sat on the sidewalk until morning.
Thank you Dillon for the very nice thing you did.
