Town Councilor Tom Lombardi will be appealing the Southington Board of Ethics’ decision declaring a breach in the town’s ethical code.
The board ruled in a 3-1 vote on Sept. 15 that there had been a violation of the Code of Ethics involving Lombardi.
The issue was brought before the board on Sept. 9, regarding a Town Council vote that the councilor took part in on June 22.
Lombardi did not recuse himself from a vote on whether or not the council should revoke their approval of a solar panel project on Hatton Meadow.
He had recused himself on an earlier vote on the project.
The project involves Middletown company Greenskies Renewable Energy, LLC.
The Chairman of the Board for Greenskies, Robert Landino, is also the CEO of Centerplan Development, where Lombardi is employed as Controller.
The majority opinion declared that Lombardi’s vote constituted a conflict of interest.
Lombardi will be appealing the board’s decision during a special meeting of the Town Council.
The meeting will be held at the Town Hall Chambers at 7pm on Tues. Oct. 20.
