The girls field hockey team (2-7-0, 1-4-0 in division) continues to improve as the postseason draws nearer, going 1-1 on the week.
The Lady Knights earned their second win, 3-0, of the season when they hosted Wethersfield (2-5-0, 1-3-0 in division) on Tuesday.
Jen Briscoe found the cage with 4:07 in the first half. Briscoe found the cage again, this time in the second half with 24:53 to go. Nicky Martoccio put the finishing touches on the game, scoring a goal with 9:06 remaining in the game.
The Knights took 17 shots on goal and 12 penalty corners. Amanda Delorme saved both of Wethersfield’s two shots on goal.
The Knights tried to carry through their progression when they made a stop to Conard (7-1-0) on Friday, but fell short, 6-0.
Conard scored five goals in the first half and one in the second. The Knights did not take any shots on goal or penalty corners. Delorme saved 20 of Conard’s 26 shots on goal.
With six games left in the regular season, the Knights will look to add four more wins to their record to qualify for the state tournament when they host Simsbury (5-3-0) on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Hall (3-5-0) on Friday, Oct. 16.
