On Sept. 23, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Southington Police officers responded to a residence at 108 Atwater Street on a report of a welfare check. During the course of the investigation, the subject of the welfare check barricaded himself inside the residence.
While officers on the scene attempted to make contact with the person inside the residence, the police closed Atwater Street between Canal Street and the I-84 exit ramp for approximately six and a half hourse.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., Stephen Cieszynski, 46, of 108 Atwater Street was taken via ambulance to a local hospital for an evaluation without further incident. There were no injuries reported during this incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
