The Southington Education Foundation, Inc., (SEF,) will host its 7th Annual Fan of the Foundation Gala on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. The event runs from 7 p.m. to midnight and serves as the organization’s largest fundraiser each year.

The non-profit organization, established in 1996, aims to provide enriching educational opportunities for children enrolled in Southington Public Schools.

Tickets for the gala cost $75, and all proceeds will benefit the foundation’s endeavors to support education.

Guests are encouraged to dress in their favorite sports team’s attire to fit the tailgate theme as they enjoy a variety of food stations, an open bar, dancing, and auctions.

Jan Galati, Chairperson of SEF, said “The Gala Committee is very excited about the live auction items offered for bid this year.”

The live auction will be hosted by Max Reiss of NBC News, with items including an Apple Watch, a basketball autographed by Geno Auriemma, an evening of wine and tapas with Dr. Craig Zendzian and Janice Freeman, and a one-week timeshare in a exotic location.

A silent auction will offer guests the chance to win VIP seating for the 2016 Southington High School graduation, ski passes, and Disney World day-hopper passes.

Galati said she is especially excited about the live auction of a “sun panel” donated by the Southington Community Cultural Arts Organization and created by artist Mary DeCroe.

The donation “truly represents SEF’s mission to partner with the community”, said Galati.

The foundation will continue to reveal new auction items on their website in the days leading up to the event. All funds raised from the auction will support the foundation’s commitment to enriching education in the community.

Since 2009, the foundation has provided 55 grants to school levels across the district, including their involvement with the fourth grade science-at-Sloper initiative and their partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain for their Artist-in-Residence program
