A community cookout will provide an afternoon of healthy grilling, live music, and entertainment for all in support of Southington Community Services.
Sponsored by FitLife 24/7, the Aug. 22 fundraiser will bring the community together around a good cause, raising funds for the many services provided by SCS.
The event will feature a town-wide bottle and can drive, with several bars and restaurants in town donating a month’s worth of bottles to the cause.
Musical performances by Jenni B will entertain guests as they enjoy free classes and seminars from several local businesses.
A Moment Away Day Spa will offer “massages by the minute” while businesses including Jillian and Company, Pro Apetite’, Eddie’s Sombrero, Sam the Clams and Bounce Boyz Rentals will serve up food and fun for all.
A “Touch-A-Truck” activity will feature HQ Dumpsters and Recycling, F&F Concrete, Bills Auto Body, and the Southington police and fire departments, among others, offering children a chance to see their favorite trucks and cars up close.
All proceeds collected from the drive and donated services will go directly to “feeding, clothing, and helping residents in need,” said event coordinator Bryan Joyce.
There is no entrance fee for the event, but residents are asked to bring can and bottle donations for the drive.
The cookout will be held at 991 South Main St. in Plantsville from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, August 22.
Any residents or business owners looking to provide donations or can leave a message with Bryan Joyce, (860) 877-5995.
