Southington artist and illustrator Andy Zygmunt specializes in portraits and illustrations, but the artist has a wide variety of interests. He’s fluent in pencil, pastel, watercolor, oils, acrylics, and digital media. (www.petshark.com)
This August, the Southington Library will showcase a variety of his art during the normal business hours of the library, Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Zygmunt has been producing art since the age of five, making toys, games, airplanes, boats and dinosaurs out of cardboard, paper, tape and whatever he could find.
“After high-school, I became fascinated by human faces and started copying them. In college I made the jump to classical art and have been drawing and painting ever since, though I’ve never settled on a single medium,” he said. “I believe that making art is not really what we do with our hands, but what we do with our eyes, and the mind behind them.”
The Gallery is located on the main level near the Café and the Mezzanine. To learn more about having an exhibit at the Gallery contact Jeanne Chmielewski at (860) 628-0947, ext. 6513 or email her at chmielewskij@ southington.org.
