The 14th Annual ‘Taste of Southington’ will be held on the grounds of the Barnes Museum at 85 North Main St. on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The annual festival will feature an assorted lineup of foods offered by local restaurants. The event is exclusively sponsored by TD Bank and will begin at 4 p.m.
This year, 12 participating restaurants, including four new Southington eateries, will delight your taste buds. Geno’s Grille, Get Your “Irish” On, Paradise Pizza & Grill, and Plantsville Pizza will be joining festival favorites C.C. Carvers, Christina’s Gourmet Cookies, Namaste India, Paul Gregory’s Bistro, Saint’s Restaurant & Catering, Salsa’s Southwest Grill, Sixpence Pie Company, and Smokin’ with Chris.
Taste of Southington visitors will enjoy entertainment from the Barnes Museum veranda featuring Connecticut native singer/songwriter Malorie Leogrande, a soulful singer who has been performing professionally since she was 8 years old. Leogrande is a former winner of the statewide Connecticut Idol Competition. She will sing musical selections from classic, soul, R&B and Jazz styles.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the museum grounds, but there’ll be plenty of tables and chairs under giant tents.
The Barnes Museum is celebrating is 40th anniversary, and the former home of Bradley Barnes, built in 1836, will be open for free tours all evening. On the grounds, free face painting and balloon animals will be provided by Talulabelle & Company of Putin’ on the Ritz.
The event is free and offers fun for the entire family, but participating restaurants will charge a fee to sample their fare. The Taste of Southington is held in conjunction with the Town of Southington’s Summer Concert Series 22nd anniversary of Music on the Green.
