  • SUMMER READING PROGRAM REGISTRATION. Registration is underway. How can your children have fun and retain the skills they learned during the school year? Join the Southington Library’s Summer Reading Program. Research shows that children who participate in a library Summer Reading Program are better prepared to learn in the fall. Open to Southington children of all ages. Once entered, you may register to attend programming and participate in trivia contests. Children who report their summer reading may enter a drawing to win one of two iPad minis. Tweens who join Summer Reading will once again receive a free book from the Southington Middle School Summer Reading List. They also have the chance to take part in Art: Human vs. Machine, where they will test their artistic skills against a painting robot and a 3D printer. Register at the children’s services desk.
  • SUMMER READING KICK-OFF: TECHNOPOLY. Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. Play Technopoly, the library’s live technology game based on Monopoly at the Summer Reading Kick-Off. Each child will receive Technopoly money and may earn more by visiting each of the technology stations. Children will build with Snap Circuits, draw with a 3D pen, take command of a robot, create a Lego town with Lego Fusion, try out the activities using Osmo and an iPad, play a game with the MaKey MaKey, and may even have their picture taken at the photo booth. Technopoly money can be accumulated to play games and win prizes. Registration is required at the Children’s Service Desk.
