The Lady Knights softball team (19-0) spent their first week away from home, but remained unblemished in their travels with two more wins, locking up the CCC West Division and extending their streak to 64 wins in a row.

The Knights defeated Simsbury (9-9), 11-2, at Memorial Park on Monday, May 18. The Knights won the first meeting between both teams last month, 11-0.

Isabella Russo went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs. Kaitlin Paterson went 2-for-3 with two runs. Natalie Wadolowski had two RBI on a double and a triple. Lauren Zazzaro and Brenna Sarantides also contributed with two RBI apiece. Kendra Friedt pitched a complete game and threw 18 strikeouts against 27 batters, allowing two hits and two walks.

The Knights continued on to Newington (14-4) two days later where they were successful again with a 13-1 win. The Knights won the first meeting between both teams earlier this month, 8-3.

Zazzaro went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI, two coming on a home run. Paterson went 2-for-4 with three runs and a double. Wadolowski had two triples, two runs, and a RBI. Russo had two RBI and a run. Friedt pitched a complete game and threw 10 strikeouts against 23 batters, allowing two hits and one earned run.

The Knights are currently ranked 12th on MaxPreps’ “Xcellent 25” high school softball rankings in the nation. The girls close out the regular season when they welcome New Britain (13-6) to their home field this week. The Knights won the first meeting between both teams earlier this month, 19-0.
