Former Boston Red Sox second baseman Marty Barrett will be among a host of former Boston ballplayers competing at the Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce’s 22nd annual golf tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Southington Country Club.
Barret, a Red Sox second baseman for nine seasons, will join with former pitcher Luis Tiant, relievers Bill Campbell, Steve Crawford, and Tom Burgmeier, along with Rick Miller, Eric Solderholm, and Dave Stapleton in the star-studded field.
Former Red Sox and New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine is also expected to attend the tournament, and Chamber officials indicate that former Red Sox infielder Rico Petrocelli may highlight the list of celebrities.
The shotgun tournament has a new home this year after a decade at Hawk’s Landing, the event will be shifted to the Southington Country Club. The tournament traditionally attracts 140 or more players and features a gala raffle, dinner, and food served on the course during play.
