Last month, The Gallery at Southington Public Library displayed a collection of photos taken everywhere from India to Austria to right here in Southington.
The diverse exhibit was the result of Southington resident Dan Purushotham using his retirement from the financial industry to pursue his new passion, photography.
Featuring four themes and more than a dozen photos, Purushotham’s exhibit showed his talent for story telling.
His first display was a five-image photo essay that followed the laying of a robin’s first blue egg through the two parent birds in an empty nest, while a photo of geese in his snow covered yard showed a family that had not migrated for winter.
Focused on wildlife and landscapes, the new photographer is using international travel to inspire his hobby as much as he is his backyard.
His exhibit gave a glimpse into life abroad and at home, with photos of Chinese fishing nets in Indian waters, the Von Trapp estate in Salzburg, Austria and blooming flowers in his wife’s garden.
Purushotham’s photos were on display through the month of April.
