On Saturday, April 18, Lincoln College of New England (LCNE) celebrated another successful winter season at their annual team banquets. The Wildcat program recognized a number of first-time awards at the regional and national level.
Austin Mofunanya was recognized as the first Wildcat athlete to be named as the Region XXI Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, NJCAA National All-Star, and NJCAA All American. Mofunanya led the nation in field goal percentage (.659) and paced the Wildcats in points (383), points per game (16.7), rebounds (13.2 average), and blocks (2.1 avg.).
Amariah Brown continued to the string of program firsts when she became the first LCNE student to be named as a NJCAA National Player of the Week (Nov. 10-16). Brown was named as a second team All-Region XXI player, along with Derrick Wilson from the men’s team.
Mofunanya, Brown, and Wilson were all recognized as Region XXI All-Stars.
In addition, the Wildcats presented a number of internal awards. Brandi McKune was presented with the Wildcat Character Award. Savannah Cummings and Dejah Wittingham received the Lincoln College of New England Coach’s Awards.
Freshman: Keion Osbourne (business major) led the team off the court with a 3.77 GPA as a freshman, and Dominic Johnson (accounting) led the team with a 3.68 GPA as a sophomore.
Both received Athletics Academic Excellence Awards.
LCNE staff members Steve Salerno and Deborah Schreppel were recognized with the Spirit of LCNE Award.
