On April 24, 2015, at approx 10:30 p.m., Robert Crotty, 42, of Southington turned himself into Southington Police on April 24 at approximately 10:30 p.m. after learning there was an active warrant for his arrest.
Crotty was processed and charged with first degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, second degree criminal mischief, and fourth degree larcey. He posted a $150,000.00 bond and was given an appearance date of May 4 at Bristol Superior Court.
The warrant alleges that Crotty entered a resident on Berlin Avenue at approximately 9:35 p.m. on April 20, 2015 and stole approximately $1,000 in cash from a bedroom. During the course of the burglary, the front door to the residence and the door to the bedroom were damaged, and that damage was estimated at approximately $500.
Officers reported finding a hammer chisel at the scene, which is believed to be the instrument used to force open both of the doors. Crotty left the scene prior to police arrival. The residents of the home are familiar with Crotty.
