On March 28, members of the Southington Police Department, funded by the STEPS Coalition, performed directed patrols during and after the junior prom, in an effort to reduce underage drinking at such events.

During the course of their evening, police gathered information that several youths were believed to be having an underage drinking party at the Econolodge, located at 1845 Meriden Waterbury Rd. in  Southington.

Officers investigated this information, and police reported evidence of drinking games being played inside the room(s). They also found beer cans and liquor bottles present inside the room(s). Ten minors were located within the room(s) and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

Police reported that their subsequent investigation revealed that the room was made available by Gregory Sioch, age 39 of Southington, who was subsequently arrested for permitting a minor to possess alcohol (Social Hosting) on April 9. Sioch is scheduled to appear in court on April 20.
