The Southington Commission on Disabilities, along with the Southington Police Department, Southington Fire Department, Emergency Management, and Public Health Department are having a seminar to prepare its disabled and elderly citizens for an emergency.
The event will take place at St. Dominic Geraghty Parish Center, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington on Sunday, May 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
Attendees will learn about local organizations and resources available to assist in the event of an emergency. Stephen Thal from the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services Board of Education and Services for the blind is the featured speaker.
Other speakers include: The Capitol Region Emergency Planning Committee Special Needs Unit, the Southington Fire Department, the Southington Police Department, Southington Emergency Management, Plainville – Southington Health District, Southington Commission on Disabilities, and Southington Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Southington residents can request transportation assistance to the event.
