To help raise awareness of heart disease’s prevalence in women, many Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC) staff members donned red on Friday, Feb. 6, Wear Red Day, as part of American Heart Month.

HOCC’s Division of Cardiology has a specific focus on heart disease in women through its Women’s Heart Wellness Center which targets women’s cardiovascular health and care. In addition, HOCC is a founding member of the WomenHeart National Hospital Alliance and provides a monthly peer-led support network, WomenHeart of Central Connecticut, for women with heart disease.

Wellness center services include arrhythmia, blood pressure and cholesterol management; heart rhythm monitoring; cardiac rehabilitation program; Heart Failure Infusion Center and Heart Failure Resource Center; pacemaker and implantable cardiac defibrillator implantation and testing; and peripheral vascular disease management.
