Obituaries for Jan. 30

William Gioia, 92 of Honolulu, Hawaii, originally of Southington, died on Saturday, Jan. 17.

John James Galayda Sr., 91, of Southington died at home on Thursday, Jan. 22. He had been the husband of the late Margaret (Larkins) Galayda for 43 years.

Bernice (Fugge) Ferency, 71, of Southington died on Jan. 24 at Midstate Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. She was the wife of Gerald Ferency.

Jeanette Celella (Robertson) Norris of Southington died on Wednesday, Jan. 21 after a 40-year battle with cancer. 1n 1986, she was awarded the Courage Award from the American Cancer Society for her work with other cancer patients.

Dolores “Loree” A. Strauss, 90, a Southington for 60 years, died on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Viola (Longo) Martin, 91, of Southington, died on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Martin.

Kathleen Kundel, of Southington, died on Jan. 20. She is formerly from Old Saybrook.

Oscar J. Politz, 87, of Plantsville, died after a short illness on Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General.
