A former Miss Connecticut is finding a way to bring out the beauty in other women through her new makeup business.
Sharalynn Kuziak Donlin, who was crowned Miss Connecticut in 2009, has now opened her own business called “Makeup Majesty”.
“I’ve been interested in the beauty world since I was very young,” said Kuziak Donlin. I’ve always been interested in makeup, color and enhancing beauty.”
Over the years, Kuziak Donlin said that she has been doing makeup for friends and family members whether it was just for fun or for a special event.
However, once she entered the pageant and modeling worlds, Kuziak Donlin said her interest in makeup and beauty became more serious.
Last summer, Kuziak Donlin took the step to making her dream of being a makeup artist come true. She went to school for makeup artistry and decided to start a business.
It was a busy summer for her, because she got married in July. Her experience as a recent bride sparked her interest in bridal makeup.
“I did a lot of research into bridal makeup, because I did my own,” said Kuziak Donlin. “I spent a good amount of time practicing my makeup, trying different techniques and colors. I enjoyed that process so much and decided I wanted to share beauty and my ideas on makeup with women throughout our state.”
Kuziak Donlin said that she will be available to do bridal makeup, pageant makeup, and makeup for photo shoots, proms, homecoming and all other special occasions.
She is equipped to do airbrush makeup, apply false eyelashes, and will also be giving makeup lessons for women who would like to learn how to do their own makeup with a professional look to it.
“I love makeup because it can truly be transforming. I believe in bringing out the true beauty in each of my clients,” said Kuziak Donlin. “There is nothing more I love than making a client look and feel her absolute best. I am passionate about empowering women through the art of makeup.”
The Southington born and raised traveling makeup artist said that she is also offering 20 percent off for first time clients.
Kuziak Donlin said she came up with the name “Makeup Majesty,” because she wanted to have a royal feel to the business’ name since she is a former Miss Connecticut.
“I thought it was a pretty unique name and unique to me,” said the local makeup artist.
