Martin takes his seat in state senate

Sen. Henri Martin took the oath of office at the State Capitol on Jan. 7 to become the new state senator for the 31st District.

The district is comprised of Bristol, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth, and Thomaston.

Martin took office with about 40 friends and family watching, including his parents, wife Roxanne and four children.

As state senator, a press release from the Republicans said Martin said he will work tirelessly to help those in need and to leave Connecticut “in a better place because of what I did and who I was.”

Martin replaces Sen. Jason Welch, who did not run for the seat after serving two terms.
