Bomb threat called into SHS; kids sent home early

Police reported that today, at about 2 p.m., a bomb threat to the Southington High school was posted on the social media website (YIK YAK). Police said the threat was discovered near the schools’ dismissal time, so all students were dismissed early, all after school activities were cancelled, and the school building was evacuated.

Police said they are currently in the process of clearing / sweeping the school and making sure there are no threats present. Southington school administration notified parents via email, said police. The Southington Fire Dept. is also staged in the area.

Police said this is an active and ongoing investigation and further updates will be sent out once the school has been cleared.
