Local teen creates holiday light show

A Southington High School student is putting his love for Christmas on display by putting on a holiday light show for the first time after being inspired by other light shows like the one on Lovely Lane.

With the help of the audio technician and projectionist for Music on the Green Vinny Morelli, Andrew Gallagher was able to put together a light show just in time for Christmas.

“Every night we would sit in front of a computer and program the show,” said Gallagher. “Then after that we had to set up all the lights outside and make sure everything was running smoothly.”

Gallagher said he has been working on this project since November. In addition, he is asking that people who attend the show bring canned goods and nonperishable food items to donate to the Southington Community Services food pantry.

“I have seen a lot of light shows, but I thought it would be a good idea to do one for charity,” said Gallagher.

The light show is located at 140 Plum Orchard Rd, Southington and is running now through Jan. 6. The hours for the show are Thursdays and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m. and then on Friday and Saturdays 6 to 10 p.m.
