John Goralski has been named as the next editor of the Southington Observer. Goralski, a graduate of Southington High School, has been a sports reporter and photographer for the Southington Observer since 2004.
Goralski earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Connecticut and worked for over a decade in the insurance industry before joining the Observer staff.
Over the past 10 years, Goralski has devoted his efforts towards covering local athletes, and his work has earned three Better Newspaper Awards from the New England Press Association for his stories and columns. In addition, Goralski has received 14 Excellence in Journalism Awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists for his columns, features, sports stories, and photographs.
Goralski, along with Michael Chaiken, Editions Editor and Bristol Observer editor and the Southington Observer staff, will continue the tradition of Southington community coverage that has continued since 1975.
“I’m excited about the opportunity,” he said. “I hope to continue to partner with the community in order to bring our readers the local news and sports that they’ve come to expect.”
