Anthony Jacks hosts Literacy Volunteers fundraiser

Anthony Jacks Wood Fire Grill, 30 Center Street in downtown Southington, is hosting a fundraiser on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. A portion of all dinner proceeds will be donated to Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury (LVGW) in celebration of 40 years of community service.

The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury is to teach adults to read, write, speak, and understand English so that they may achieve personal, educational, employment, and civic goals.  More than 100 volunteer tutors teach more than 250 adults each year.  Since 1974, thousands of adults from more than 30 countries have improved their literacy skills to become better employees, better parents, and better citizens.  LVGW is also the coordinator of “Waterbury Reads,” a program that distributes thousands of books to low-income children throughout the community.

Proceeds will be used for educational materials to benefit Literacy Volunteers tutors and adults learners.  Reservations are required:  call Anthony Jacks at 860-426-1487 and mention “Literacy Volunteers.”  To learn more visit
