Southington Library celebrates the arts for 2014. There will be an opening reception 5:30 to 7 p.m. the Café Gallery at the Southington Library on Thursday, Dec. 4.
There will be artists, photographers, and writers as well as live music and refreshments.
Local artists acknowledge The Gallery at the Southington Library as a popular venue to exhibit their works. Each year the Celebrate the Arts event has grown, with more artists and writers displaying their works. This is one of the many free programs the library provides to bring the arts to the community.
This year, the library is recognizing two its own, children’s librarians Cindy Wall and Lynn Pawloski who recently had their book, “The Maker Cookbook: Recipes for Children’s and ’Tweens’ Library Programs” published. The librarians will give a short synopsis of their experiences creating and writing about what is a passionate topic for both.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Southington High School student Austin Sullivan who will play his acoustic guitar. Entertainment is funded by a grant from The Southington Arts Council.
The library is also accepting non-perishable food item donations for Southington Community Services “Christmas Dinners” collection boxes will be available by our “mitten” tree.
