Public meeting set to garner input for updating the Plan of Conservation and Development

The Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled a public meeting to get input from Southington residents as part of updating the Plan of Conservation and Development. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 196 North Main St. “This Plan is an important document which will be used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond,” said Michael DelSanto, chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission. The meeting will provide an opportunity for Southington residents to identify issues of concern to them and suggest priorities and strategies for the next Plan. Following the public meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission will be looking at identified issues and evaluating strategies to help guide the community in the future. A Plan of Conservation and Development is an advisory document used by the Planning and Zoning Commission and other town agencies to protect the resources important to residents, guide growth and change in Southington and identify facilities and services needed to support the community we want to be. Southington residents are encouraged to come to the meeting to help ensure that the Plan of Conservation and Development reflects community goals “The Town Plan will help us approach the future with vision and confidence,” said Michael Riccio, Town Council chairman. “I hope Southington residents will share their thoughts and ideas at this meeting.”
