A Southington teenager was arrested earlier this evening in connection with Sunday’s fatal fire on Darling Street.
Southington police arrested
, 18, of 244 Westwood Rd., at 5 p.m. this evening. He was charged with first degree manslaughter and three counts of first degree reckless endangerment. Morelli was released after posting a $150,000 bond. He has a July 7 court date.
The arrest warrant affidavit was sealed by the court and no further details are being released at this time.
Yesterday, the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Kristen Milano died of smoke inhalation in Sunday’s blaze at the Summer Brook Apartments. Authorities, however, would not say why they thought Milano’s death was a homicide.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation. Police declined to comment on witness reports saying the fire may have been started by someone who threw a firecracker at the apartment as a prank.
The Southington Fire Department responded to a fire at the Summer Brook Apartments on Darling Street at 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The second floor of the condo unit was engulfed when fire officials arrived.
