Rose’s recognition will take place at the Elks Club, 114 Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Pasta and meatball supper with salad, dessert, coffee and tea starts at 6:30 pm. Music and dancing by “After All” from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Event co-chair, Tops Market will donate the food for this fundraiser in memory of Tops co-owner, John Salerno’s late wife, Nancylee Salerno, who was killed in a tragic auto accident in 2012. She had been very active in Relay for Life.
This year’s Relay for Life, to be held on May 30-31 at the Southington Athletic Field, will be Jean Rose’s 12 annual participation in this town-wide and national cause working to fight cancer. Rose is a cancer survivor whose many contributions to Relay for Life include the formation of an enthusiastic, growing team called Jean’s Angels in Action Against Cancer, which includes many cancer survivors. Jean’s Angels have dedicated their efforts in honor of a total of 1,900 individuals who have lost their battle with cancer, each name inscribed and displayed at the Jean’s Angels booth.
Jean’s Angels’ Make Wednesdays at Wendy’s, at 328 Queen Street successfully boosted fundraising and awareness of Relay for Life with Wendy’s donation of a percent of profits to the relay.
Jean’s Angels have received awards for their outstanding display booths at past relays.
