Meet Melissa Botsacos, a local resident who has created a variety of paintings to share with the community during in art show this week.
From paintings of animals and nature to the UConn Husky logo to cartoon characters, a number of Botsacos’s paintings will be up for sale during her art show, “Meet the Artist” at The Arc of Southington. The cost of each painting ranges from $15 to $40.
Botsacos, a member of Arc’s recreation program, said she has pursued her love of art for three years now, painting and drawing whenever the inspiration strikes.
“It’s my passion,” said Botsacos. “I come home from work and I just start painting every night.”
For Botsacos, the upcoming art show is not the only event in which she has submitted her pieces. Botasacos has also shared her work in the art gallery of Paris in Plantsville, and has also hung her paintings on the walls of the Southington Care Center where she works.
“I think she has a great imagination and a very positive view on life,” said Sandy Amato, the CEO of Arc, who has bought a couple of Botsacos’s paintings herself. “It just brought [Melissa] out of her shell.”
The art show will take place this Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Arc, located at 201 West Main Street in Plantsville. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
