From bracelets and necklaces to handbags and scarves to clothing, Chic Boutique in Southington offers a variety of items for customers looking to be their “kind of beautiful.”
Dottie Perry, the owner of Chic Boutique LLC, opened her store at 35 Center Street in February. Located across from The Fire Place, Chic Boutique now occupies the building where former Move Over Martha’s store once stood.
Perry said she decided to open her own store after working for a couple years at a jewelry vendor on a part-time basis.
“It was just something fun to do,” said Perry.  “I like fashion, so I might as well do something with it.”
When Perry saw the property on Center Street was available, she was hooked. Perry said the location appealed to her, especially since Southington hosts a number of events and activities on the green.
“This location kind of drew me here because of the way it was set up, I like that the town green is there,” said Perry, adding how having restaurants and hair salons on the same street will also drive traffic into the store. “I just thought this was an ideal spot.”
Art Secondo, the president & CEO of the Southington Chamber of Commerce, said Chic Boutique diversifies the downtown area.
“Dotti has brought a new page to our downtown,” said Secondo.  “Her store offers a nice variety of items that is sure to bring more foot traffic to Center Street and will compliment the restaurants and other retail shops.”
Perry said she hopes to offer customers a unique variety of accessories and jewelry to choose from whether they are looking to buy a gift or to expand their closets.
With prices ranging from $10 up to $85, Perry said her boutique provides affordable items while encouraging shoppers to “be your own kind of beautiful,” as her store’s slogan goes.
“There’s not a lot of [boutiques] around,” said Perry, adding that her boutique will serve as a convenient place for customers to shop instead of travelling to a mall.  “I’m trying to keep my prices down and make it more affordable for people.”
The Chamber will celebrate a grand opening of Chic Boutique on Thursday, May 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the store itself.
Chic Boutique will also serve as a vendor during the Chamber Women’s annual Girls Night Out, which will take place May 21 at the Aqua Turf.
